ISABELA hosts Cagayan Valley’s RSC
DDG Calzado graces opening program

The province of Isabela hosted the 2019 TESDA Reginal Skills Competition which is being held at the Southern Isabela College of Arts and Trades (SICAT) in the City of Santiago on March 27-29, 2019.

TESDA Isabela Provincial Director, Dr. Demetrio P. Anduyan, Jr. welcomed all the participants. In his message, Anduyan said that the Regional Skills Competition is likened to the Balamban or butterfly which is the symbol of the city’s festival. “The butterfly’s beauty would not have seen by the world if it did not metamorphose. Today is a celebration of metamorphosis for our competitors showcase what they have become because of the guidance of their experts and the TESDA training they received.” he said.

There are 21 contested events which are: Automobile Technology; Beauty Therapy; Mechanical Engineering Cad; Cooking; Electrical Installation; Electronics; Graphic Design Technology; Hairdressing; Information Network Cabling; T Software Technology; Refrigeration And Airconditioning; Restaurant Service; Web Design And Development; Welding Technology; Brick Laying; Cabinet Making; Car Painting; Fashion Technology; Internet Of Things; Joinery; Wall and Floor Tiling.

Cagayan Valley is composed of the provinces of Isabela, Cagayan, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino and Batanes.

TESDA Deputy Director General for Partnership and Linkages, DDG Rebecca Calzado was the invited guest during the opening program. During her message, DDG Calzado stressed that the holding of Regional Skills Competition showcases TESDA’s quality of training that indeed the skills they provide are world-class as the TESDA standards used during the competition are based on international guidelines.

“The holding of Regional Skills Competition promotes TESDA’s training. It provides motivation to people to enroll in our programs. It helps us realize our slogan ‘TESDA, Abot Lahat’,” DG Calzado stressed further.

After the opening program, a press briefing was held at SICAT’s Function Room. DG Calzado then visited a Farm Learning Site after which she monitored all the contested events and checked also the facilities of the school.
